Keeping your feline friend happy with cat toys is really an easy task for anyone.

Of course the cat is bound to have a favourite toy, they all do, however you can keep them very happy by replacing those toys that are worn and old with new ones.

Proper Iguana Care Leads to a Happy and Healthy Pet

Iguanas are becoming one of the more popular pets among people today. Iguanas are in the lizard family and they require a different kind of care than puppies or kitty cats.

One of the first things you need to do is find a good veterinarian to check out your pet iguana and get some tips for its care and diet. Finding out about the proper iguana care is vital to the health and happiness of your new pet lizard. Here are some tips about taking care of green iguanas that can help get you started and to dispel any myths or misinformation you might have about their care.

Happy Habitat

You will need to have the right kind of housing for your green iguana. Even for a small iguana, you need a large cage. A good rule of thumb for even baby iguanas is to get a cage that is at least 3 feet L x 1 ½ feet W x 1 ½ feet H. Iguanas tend to grow very fast in their first three years which means you will need to purchase or build new housing for them. Temperature range for the happy habitat should be around 75 to 79 degrees.

Habitat Furnishings

Your cage should have good lighting and be warm. There should be items in there for climbing. You will want to stay away from real plants that can be trampled by the iguana. You do want to make sure to have plenty of leaves, branches and green foliage to make your iguana happy. If you do place real plants in the cage, use nontoxic plants like pothos or philodendron so even if your iguana were to eat it no harm would come to it.

Feeding Time

Make sure your iguana has plenty of good clean fresh water to drink. You also want to be sure that the food you feed it hasa high water content. Fruits and vegetables should make up the diet for an iguana. Green vegetables like collard greens, turnip greens and dandelion should make up about 35% of the iguana’s diet. Proper iguana care means you should also add things like cilantro, oregano and basil herbs to the diet. Protein should come from food like alfalfa food pellets, powder or tablets you add to their green salad. As long as you can ensure that no animals can get into the cage, you can allow your iguana to bask in the outdoor sun a few hours a week. That makes then very happy.
